The model railway building in Markeaton Park in Derby
Our big model railway will fit neatly inside the building that Famous Trains model railway will lease from Derby City Council. The building measures 22metres by 9metres overall. It has a useful annexe that will become the main entrance for the general public.
However, the building has been used as a Council store for over 50 years so it has only been maintained sufficiently for that use. Now, to make it safe for the public to enter and enjoy the model railway, it needs a new roof, an extra fire escape door, new electricity supply and lighting, provision of other safety features and generally smartening up. We need to raise at least £40,000 to cover this work. That is why we seek sponsors from local industry and companies, and it is why we have launched our Building Fund.

Individual donations are also welcome. Any person who wants to be kept up-to-date can send us an e-mail address to be advised of updates when they appear on the web site.
Please send donations to the Hon. Treasurer, Famous Trains model railway , 382 Duffield Road, DERBY, DE22 1ER. Cheques, postal orders and bankers’ orders should be made out to “Famous Trains model railway”. (If you are a UK taxpayer, you can Gift Aid your donation. The charity will be able to claim 28p back from Inland Revenue & Customs for each £1 you donate. Please copy and paste the Gift Aid form below and send it with your donation.)
